SELECTION
OF FINISHES

Whether it's building for the first time or renovating an existing space, today's homeowners are faced with more material choices than ever before.  Add to that the staggering amount of product information at our fingertips - home & garden shows, print magazines, websites, celebrity decorators! - one can easily become overwhelmed.

TLM Design Studio can help you navigate through the construction process and make informed choices.   Things you will have to select include....

  • flooring such as ceramic or porcelain tile, hardwood, cork, cushion flooring or carpet.

  • kitchen and bath cabinets with details such as door style / profile, wood species & stain or paint color.

  • counter top material such as plastic laminate, solid surfacing, tile or butcher-block.

  • door & window styles.

  • trim & moulding - baseboards, window trims, crown moulding, etc.

  • cabinet hardware, all interior & exterior door hardware  & hinges.

  • light fixtures, furniture, rugs & bedding.

  • paint, wallpaper and window coverings.

CUSTOM INTERIOR ACCESSORIES

Fleshing out the details of an environment are what makes it complete.  The most important part of this process is putting the client's stamp on a space - not the designer's.  An interior should reflect the personality, tastes and influences of the end-user and not appear to have one designer's "look."

To that end, TLM Design Studio can help you select interior finishes that are uniquely "you."  We can help you select accessories such as furniture, tables, lamps, and artwork that coordinate with the space, and each other.

We also provide custom window coverings such as curtains, sheers, blinds, shades and shutters.  Assessing the functional needs first will determine if you need to reduce heat gain, prevent heat loss, provide privacy, dampen sounds, reduce glare or block out light entirely.   From there, the appropriate window covering can be found to enhance the  decor and architecture of your space.

TLM Design Studio offers a vast selection of both hard & soft window coverings that cater to all budgets.  See our Suppliers page to explore the choices of fabric, hardware and manufacturers available to you.

SPACE PLANS &
CONSTRUCTION DRAWINGS

The ideal environment is one that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.  The aim of the interior designer is to enhance the quality of one's surroundings  through thoughtful consideration of the space, as well as the end user.

If you plan on building a new home or business, or renovating an existing one, consulting with a designer should be your first step.  An initial dialogue will determine the scope of work and give the client an opportunity to convey their requirements.   Consideration is given to the site and how the built environment relates to it, the size of the space and the number of users.  Inside,  factors such as room size, furniture & storage requirements, and special needs are all accounted for.

From there the designer will provide drafted construction drawings that may include an existing floor plan, demolition plan, roof plan, new floor plan, lighting & electrical layout, reflected ceiling plan, custom millwork details, wall-construction details, and interior / exterior elevations, all following accessibility, environmental and sustainability guidelines.
